You asked me to fight for you,
But you didn’t give me a battlefield.

You asked me to put up a fight,
But you ran before the start.

How am I supposed to know what you want,
If all I get are cried and lies.
How am I supposed to fight,
If all I get are fireflies.

For a fight,
There must be more than one.
One reason why and one reason why not.
This is why a fight is hard,
Because there is no perfect brush.

Paint me a battle,
And Ill give you a stallion.
A stallion that wont lose the field; but might lose some battles.
Might lose some ears,
But will remain steady on the campground.

You asked me to fight for you,
But you didn’t give me a battlefield.

You asked me to put up a fight,
But you ran before the start.

How am I supposed to find you,
If you are hiding behind that microphone.
That I cant see because you wont sing.
An invisible key for just you to see.

  1. Behind that microphone lies her most inner thoughts.
    her hopes, her dreams,
    her devils, her saints,
    her good and bad,
    her happy and sad.

Behind that microphone lies a million stories she has yet to tell,
    between the heartbreaks, the battles
    countless roads she’s traveled,
    beginnings and ends,
all for a love that has not quite began.

Behind that microphone lies the love she’s tried to give,
through all the lies and pushed asides,
through all the late night cries and wonder why’s,
through all the pain and poured down rain,
    she’s stood in a battlefeild
    tangled in strings.

    She’s stood there, not running…
    but firm strong and brave
    all alone, in many battles
    for far too long.
One day she’ll find her might,
Oh trust me.. she’ll break free and spread her light
throughout the microphone and into life,
until then, darkness still shadows her sight.

So where were you when she needed a fight?
Not a battle or a war,
    but for a love
to help prove there’s an open door..
A door to a love you couldn’t see
that she had been fighting for.
